About Patrick D. Scullin
Empathy is the ability to understand the feelings of others; it’s placing yourself in someone else’s shoes. Science proves it’s critical for happiness. Unfortunately, empathy is in short supply in these techno-obsessed days.
Being empathetic is an art, one essential for marketing success.
I was a founder/ECD of ASO Advertising/Atlanta, and I recently left the ad game to pursue writing fiction and humor. I recently published my first novel SAWDUST: Love is wilder than a circus. It’s a fun escape for our troubled world infused with humor, love, clowns, and explorations into the male psyche.

I also write another blog featuring smart-ass political satire, humor, hip replacement surgery info, rants and raves, and whatnot. It’s called The Lint Screen.
Before starting my own agency, I worked at some of America’s finest ones–– Riney, Burnett, The Richards Group, etc. My experience and gray hairs taught me one thing: empathy and creativity are the most critical skills for effective communications with human beings.
But if your audience is dogs, beef treats work best.
